Workforce Development

At Fello, the person is at the center of everything we do. We build our services around what you want and need. We know each person likes different things and what you like helps you decide what kind of job you want.

Working helps people with disabilities be part of their communities. Having a job helps you earn money, meet people, and learn to do more on your own. Fello’s Workforce Development program helps you find your skills, learn new ones, apply for jobs, and find work that fits what you like.

Career Development

When you express interest in starting your career or finding a new job, our Workforce Development team meets with you to discuss When you want to start working or find a new job, our team talks with you about your goals. We talk about what kind of job you want and how it fits the life you want. Our team might ask:

  • What things do you enjoy doing?
  • Do you like busy places or quiet places?
  • Do you like talking to people, or do you like working alone?
  • How far do you want to travel to work?
  • Do you want to work all day or part of the day?
  • How much money do you need to make?

Together, we look at job listings, fix your resume, help you apply, and practice for interviews.

On-The-Job-Support

Fello has a team of well-trained Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). These DSPs help people with disabilities not just get a job, but keep a job.

After you start working, you get two in-person check-ins each month. We talk about how your job is going and if it’s right for you.

Our DSPs also help you at work when you need it. If you get new tasks at work, move to a new job, or need help feeling good about your work, your team is there to help you.

Once you begin working, you automatically receive two face-to-face check-ins each month to discuss how your job is going and whether it’s the right fit for you.

Transportation

Having a way to get to work is very important for any job. If you don’t have a car or other way to get around, our team will teach you how to travel safely. You can learn to use rideshare services like Uber or Lyft by yourself. We show you how to use the apps, enter addresses, pick a car and driver, and check your ride. Your team will even ride with you the first few times until you feel good about it.

Our team also helps you get money for transportation through the Developmental Disability Administration (DDA). You can get up to $7,500 each year. This money pays for rideshare costs when you use services like Uber and Lyft to get to work.
